TIPS
Planning the perfect event is time consuming and stressful. Not only do you have to plan everything down to the last detail, you have to make sure everyone has a great time. We here at Damaged Fingers Productions want your event to be as stress free as possible. Utilize the following tips to fit your event - and best wishes on your planning.
Send your invitation 6 to 8 weeks proir to your event. 8 to 10 weeks for out of town guest, and 10 to 12 weeks for Holiday parties.
If possible mail invitations at the same time, people do compare notes about who received their invite first.
Interview your DJ before making a final decision. You can conduct a 5 minute phone interview which should give you an idea of their professionalism and desire to serve you. Pay attention to their professionalism over the phone, or lack there of.
Parties involving Alcohol should plan for a safe end to the evening. Set-up a designated driver, Hire a service for a few hours, or make arrangements with a local taxi company to have a few taxi's available to transport your fun-loving guest safely home.
Choice is key. Make sure you have plenty of alternative, non-alcoholic beverages. The more choices the better.
Minimize the mailings and save a tree when you ask your guest to RSVP. You can skip the envelope for the reply card by using a reply postcard. Better yet, ask guest to email their RSVP's.
Many DJs boast about a large libraries of songs. While variety is a good thing the reality is, the DJ will only be able to play about 50 - 70 songs over a 3 -4 hour period. Having the right 50 songs is more important than having 20,000 songs nobody wants to hear.
On average, 4 - 10% of the event/wedding reception budget is spent on the DJ entertainment. Yet 80% of whether your event/reception was a success or not is based on the DJ entertainment.
Make sure the DJ can play or even has the music you want for your event. You don't want a techno DJ for your 80's themed coporate party. Find out thier style and what music they generally play. Nobody likes all kinds of music. Nobody.
